Children love telling, and being told, stories. We love storytelling too and find it a great way to teach skills such as interview technique, description, research and programme making.
South Lanakshire Council approached us, following attending a podcast workshop we had delivered at the Scottish Arts Council’s Creative Nation conference. They asked us to design and deliver a six-part digital storytelling workshop project with the twelve pupils of Crawfordjohn Primary School, one of the smallest schools in Scotland.
The project was supported by Museums and Galleries Scotland and took place in and around the Crawfordjohn Heritage Centre. From September to November 2008 we worked with the young people who of the village who learned how to describe objects in the museum, interview members of the community and tell stories about their local area.
