Scottish Album of the Year Award Ceremony Live Stream

To celebrate Scotland’s world-renowned musical talent, Inner Ear produced the inaugural Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award Ceremony live stream. Our team also interviewed the nominees and winners backstage. We produced this video to showcase the spirit of the event.

Highlights from our production of the first SAY Award Ceremony Live Stream, 2012

Scottish Music Industry Association (SMIA) owns and runs the SAY Award. BBC presenters Vic Galloway and Janice Forsyth hosted the show. The ceremony took place at Film City in Glasgow on Tuesday 19 June with entertainment by special guest musicians and DJs.

The ten shortlisted acts were awarded £1,000. Glasgow School of Art graduate Fraser Clark created original artworks for each nominee on the shortlist. Winners Aidan Moffat and Bill Wells collected the grand prize of £20,000. The other nine shortlisted acts were Mogwai, King Creosote and Jon Hopkins, Rustie, Tommy Smith, Mungo’s Hi Fi, Remember Remember, Conquering Animal Sound and Happy Particles.

Award Ceremony Live Stream and Event Visual Identity

Working with our close friend and colleague, Andy Brown, and renowned independent filmmaker Paul Fegan, we produced a series of promo videos to show before each of the acts collected their shortlist prize. We also devised a concept for the videos, based on the hexagonal brand identity created by Edinburgh-based design agency Hillside. Then visual artists (party collective and technical production wizards) Vitamins took our concept and rendered it as lattice of hexagons on to which the video content was projected.

Because we streamed the night live on Livestream, it reached an international audience. Several thousand viewers watched it from a variety of places, including the Scottish Album of the Year Award website. Furthermore, we documented everything for prosperity and future promotion.

This combination of creative concept, media production and programme making is all part of Inner Ear’s speciality in crafting live digital experiences. We can produce an award ceremony live stream for you too. Get in touch with Inner Ear to discuss how we can help you take your event to a global audience.
