When very talented performance companies promote exciting pieces, its vital to spread the word and sell more tickets.
Leading chamber music group Hebrides Ensemble engaged Inner Ear to produce promotional preview podcasts as part of their audience development activities. We’ve produced previews, containing clips of the music that will be performed and interviews with performers and composers, for a season of shows. As a result of promoting the podcasts we’ve made for Hebrides Ensemble, attendance has increased by 25%.
In addition to researching the content, conducting the interviews and producing the podcast episodes, we publish each preview in a podcast feed, which we’ve submitted to iTunes and other relevant podcast directories.
For some of the episodes, such as the Pierrot Lunaire preview, we’ve added chapter markers and embedded images in the enhanced podcast version. At some concerts, such as the Peter Maxwell Davis 75th birthday celebration, Hebrides Ensemble also commission us to make high quality live recordings.
We’ve advised the group on how best to display these digital media tools on the Hebrides Ensemble website. For easy embedding on their website, and to enable fans to share the audio content, we’ve used the Soundcloud platform.
