To increase reach, build on the existing audience and improve the content output of Youth Music Forum Scotland, creative content communications company, Inner Ear have been managing the website on behalf of Creative Scotland since the beginning of this year.

Website

Our first task was to rebuild the website to bring it up to date and make it function in a more social manner. The site is built in WordPress, using the Buddypress social platform. We build almost our of websites in WordPress so we were able to get into the detail of the site and rework it. When it comes to websites, our expertise is in content management and design, with a foundation in development. For more detailed programming tasks we work with a network of talented developers. Denise Ross from Identi helped us reconstruct the YMFS website to great effect, drawing praise from Creative Scotland and YMFS users alike.

Community Content

Through posting daily blogs containing regional event information, opportunities and news relevant to the youth music scene in Scotland and the specific target audience of YMFS.org.uk, readers have been encouraged to use the site as a regular hub of information and activity. Inner Ear have also developed the online profile of YMFS over the past months by setting up and maintaining various social media profiles (such as Facebook, Twitter, Issuu, Vimeo and more) on a daily basis, by posting and sharing content and building up relationships with other organisations and people in related fields.

By increasing communications and number of platforms for these discussions to take place, Inner Ear have extended the reach of the forum and increased the diversity of activity taking place within the site. By publishing a monthly newsletter, sent out each month via email, we have also encouraged engagement with members of the existing mailing list and new members, resulting in more useful information and content for all users of the forum.

In addition to this, we have taken part in youth music meetings in person to further build relationships and find new sources of information for the site. This has helped forge useful relationships with active community youth music workers and organisations, now in regular contact and consistently providing us with unique information for use on the site.

Inner Ear specialise in building audience, communication development and managing websites in this way. The team work on a variety of different social media and communication projects from their office as well as a variety of other digital media projects and services on location.
