In 2018, Inner Ear partnered with renowned Glasgow electronic music shop Rubadub Records and the legendary Numbers collective to deliver a unique live video broadcast; an exclusive “secret rave” streamed directly from the heart of the city’s underground music scene. This innovative event was designed to build excitement and drive ticket sales for the celebrated Pleasure Principle festival.
A Pleasurable Problem
Pleasure Principle, known for its cutting-edge dance music programming and world-class line-ups, wanted to create a digital buzz ahead of its flagship event. Working closely with Numbers and Rubadub Records, Inner Ear was commissioned to live stream a secret DJ set and in-store party, bringing the energy of Glasgow’s vibrant club culture to a global online audience.
Inner Ear’s Solution
- Multi-platform live streaming: We produced and broadcast the event live on Inner Ear’s Livestream.com channel and our Radio Magnetic internet radio station, reaching dance music fans in real time and amplifying anticipation for the main festival.
- On-location production: Our team handled all technical aspects of the in-store live stream, capturing the raw energy of the DJ sets, the intimate crowd and the atmosphere of Rubadub Records — a legendary hub for electronic music in Scotland.
- Audience engagement: The live broadcast generated social media chatter, encouraged music fans to interact and created a sense of FOMO that translated directly into increased ticket interest.
Impact
This secret rave live stream exemplified how strategic digital media can extend the reach and impact of live events:
- Built online buzz for Pleasure Principle and its partners
- Stimulated ticket sales through real-time, interactive fan engagement
- Showcased Glasgow’s music culture to international viewers, reinforcing the city’s reputation as a global hub for electronic music

In order to build hype and raise awareness for the Pleasure Principle 2013 Weekender taking place in Cornwall, Rubadub Records hosted a #GlasgowTeamStream event, featuring sets from many of the popular Glasgow-based acts who would go on to play at the festival itself. Inner Ear, via Radio Magnetic, provided a special live video stream of the proceedings.
This Pleasure Principle #GlasgowTeamStream event included 4 hours of live DJ sets from some of Glasgow’s finest at the legendary Rubadub. Sets on the night included Jackmaster from Numbers, Sam and Shaun from Vitamins, Bake from All Caps, Mermaid5 and more.
This live stream was made all the more special by the presence of Jackmaster (Jack Revill), a founding member of Numbers and a vital force in Glasgow’s electronic music scene. Jack was not only internationally renowned as a DJ and tastemaker, but was also a valued part of the Radio Magnetic family in our formative years—supporting and shaping the station’s early sound and spirit. Jack’s energy, generosity and love of music helped define the ethos of both Numbers and Radio Magnetic. We dedicate this project to his memory, with deep gratitude for the inspiration and joy he brought to so many. His legacy will continue to resonate across dance floors and airwaves for many years to come.
