Event Curation for Music Business Innovation Informative Tech Conference

Inner Ear has been immersed in confluence of innovation, creativity and technology for a long time. In 2010 co-created a conference in Glasgow call Music Business Innovation. We took care of event curation for a dynamic conference in partnership with Interactive Scotland and the Scottish Music Industry Association (SMIA). This new music industry convention in Glasgow explored the digital future of the music industry.

Digital Director from Beggars Group Simon Wheeler gives us his opinions after the Music Business Innovation event at The Hub, Glasgow in November 2010.

Innovation In Music Business

This event, at The Hub, Glasgow, examined how labels, publishers, managers and artists could utilise digital platforms and revenue streams. Furthermore, it explored social media, digital marketing strategies and brands partnerships. The event explored new ways to work together and make money from a vital, ubiquitous art-form: Scottish music.

Creative Industries KTN, Creative Scotland, Scottish Enterprise and Radio Magnetic supported Music Business Innovation. Inner Ear partnered with Interactive Scotland and brought the national industry body, the SMIA, in to add music business credibility. Because we have been immersed in the UK music industry from day one, Inner Ear’s role was initially curatorial, working closely with Interactive Scotland to identify topics, select and brief speakers. We also handled technical management and digital documentation. With extensive experience of running workshops and seminars, we put together a suite of talks. And then Radio Magnetic’s Andy McColgan chaired the media and music discussion.

Event Curation For Audience Engagement with Integrity

We named and branded the conference. We opted for the title Music Business Innovation to reflect the business development nature of the event, which is not about artistic development but rather focuses on how every sector of the music industry can work together to become more prosperous. In the face of economic challenges, innovation is vital. We designed the visual branding, with three symbols standing for music, business and innovation respectively.

Complimenting Interactive Scotland’s PR, Inner Ear’s Dougal Perman wrote a piece for Music Week, which ran a news item and feature. We promoted the event through social media and used the tag #musicbizinn in Twitter.

We have a wealth of event curation experience, including conferences, panel discussions, seminars, webinars, workshops and concerts. Get in touch to discuss how Inner Ear can help you realise events, particularly in creative industries, arts, culture and technology.
